BikeWalkKC is excited to bring our Kansas City BCycle bike share program to North Kansas City!
North Kansas City officials and business leaders will be joined by BikeWalkKC staff and board members to cut the ribbon on Kansas City BCycle’s three newest stations on Friday, June 16th - 12:30 p.m. at the YMCA at Armour Road and Iron Street.
The City partnered with BikeWalkKC and Rainen Companies for Kansas City BCycle’s first northland and first suburban stations:
- 18th and Swift near the heart of Downtown Northtown
- 29th and Swift at CityView Apartments, also serving Northgate Village and Macken Park
- North Kansas City YMCA, on Iron Street at Armour Road
Bike share gives North Kansas City residents a new way to access jobs, shopping, and services adjacent to the 30 B-stations between Northtown and Waldo. And now North Kansas City’s burgeoning brewery and restaurant scene is easily accessible across the Heart of America Bridge from the River Market Downtown Loop, 18th & Vine Jazz District, or the Crossroads Arts District.
Please note: You will see Kansas City BCycle crews installing and testing the new stations during the week of June 12th, but they won’t be fully operational until Friday the 16th.
More Stations on the Way in 2017
Later this year we will be adding another eight stations south of the river in areas like River Market, Midtown, West 39th, UMKC, and the South Plaza. Stay tuned for more details as we grow from 30 to 41 stations by the end of 2017.
Mobank Bike Fleet
The new North Kansas City stations also mark the debut our the first of our new BCycle 2.0 fleet. Thanks to the support of Mobank, we are adding 80 new bikes that feature new baskets, easier handling, and a lighter weight design. Look for these orange bikes to start popping up throughout the KC BCycle network.
